Cozy Christmas Home Tour

I am so excited to be sharing my cozy cottage Christmas home tour with you today!

Holiday Home Tour

All right, friends. It is officially time for my cottage Christmas home tour! I know this week is Thanksgiving, but by Monday I bet we’ll all be ready to pull out our decor! I love Christmas and I can’t wait to share this with you. And if you are still decorating or you have bins all over your house right now and you feel overwhelmed, please don’t let this stress you out.

Christmas decorating

I’m just getting it out there so that I can maybe encourage you or inspire you in some way. A lot of our decor purchases are secondhand; it’s been thrifted and collected over years and years. I hope I give you some ideas today, and I hope that you enjoy watching. I know I have been so inspired by my blogging friends’ beautiful homes! I have so many creative women in my life who inspire me, so let’s get started in our entryway.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour: Entryway

I love decorating our entryway for Christmas. I have a couple of things I wanted to point out!

Christmas entryway

We put these reclaimed beams here a couple years ago, and I love hanging greenery from them. If you’re looking for ways to add a festive touch, just tie some ribbon on it. I do that with everything. I love the texture and pop of color that they add, so I tie them to my garlands, and I also have it tied around this basket here.

I didn’t end up clipping any fresh cedar yet, but I still want to go do that. I’m definitely going to clip some for the outside, so I’ll probably bring some inside too. But I did get some fresh dried eucalyptus that I mixed throughout my decor, and I just love the way that it looks.

This wreath I have hanging on my number hooks is actually meant for my front door, but we haven’t decorated the porch yet, so I’ll be putting it out there soon. I’ve shared this with you guys before, but on our closet door, I have an angel with bells that was my grandmother’s.

I tuck that into a cedar wreath. I also have one of her Christmas prints. All of the prints you see throughout my home were hers. For some reason that chokes me up right now, but it just makes me think of my grandma when I see them, and I love decorating with her things at Christmas time. Decor that has been passed down through generations truly adds so much warmth and Christmas spirit to a home.

As we move into the living room, I’ll chat first about the mantel. I used the same greens I’ve used in years past, except I added a lot of fresh eucalyptus, just like I did in the entryway. I think it looks really beautiful. It’s simple, but I love the way it turned out.

For my tree this year, I got a new one. I hate to link it because I really messed with it. I took all the lights off because they were LED and I didn’t like them. I clipped off some of the branches at the top, bent all the branches, and added my own lights.

I can link it for you, but just know I really customized this tree to get it to where I liked it. I needed something a bit more slim now that we have this bookshelf in the corner, which I really love with the greens, the basket, and the little bells. This was such a fun space to decorate, and it’s one of my favorites at Christmas time.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour: Sunroom

Sunroom Christmas

Right off of our living room is our sunroom space. I love decorating these shelves for Christmas. This is where our piano and guitars are, so it’s kind of our music room, and it doubles as Mike’s office.

I decided to decorate with some musical instruments I’ve thrifted over the years (trumpets, little cymbals) and I added this garland I made years ago. Funny story: it was in my very first YouTube video ever, back in 2018 when Caleb was born!

I decided to pull that garland out again this year, added some simple ribbon to the tree, and I love the way it came together.

Dining Room

Let’s talk about the dining room. I always like to add greenery on our light fixture. I think it looks really beautiful. The hutch is new this year, so that was exciting to decorate.

I hung a really beautiful wreath on it, added some greenery on top with battery-operated lights, and tucked in some little antique copper pieces that my mom bought me last Christmas. Of course I had to add a few of my favorite holiday scented candles throughout my home from Antique Candle Co.!

About the archway: someone asked how I hang the garland. Truth be told, I tried command strips over the years and it would just fall off. So a couple years ago, I said, “Forget it.”

I love the way the greenery looks, so I had Mike put anchors in the center and corners of the plaster and screw in little cup hooks. After Christmas, I take the hooks out but the anchors stay in the wall. Sometimes I cover them with spackle, sometimes I don’t. Maybe you’ve noticed them in my videos.

I love using cedar garland throughout my home as well. I wove eucalyptus through it, both faux and real, and I think it looks stunning.

Kitchen & Small Bathroom

Christmas kitchen

In the kitchen, I love hanging a wreath above our stove on our DIY vent hood. I added some greenery and twinkle lights, and of course some ribbon!

I really added greenery wherever I could haha above the doorway leading downstairs and on the table as you enter the kitchen. Just little festive touches here and there.

I also wanted to share our little bathroom space that we recently renovated, so I’m including that after the kitchen. I added greenery and ribbon to our vanity mirror and little wall shelf.

Cozy Christmas Home Tour: Bedroom & Kids’ Spaces

We’re ending the tour with our bedrooms! I’m so happy with how the boys’ rooms turned out! I just put some trees in their rooms, as well as some adorable strands of star garland.

I love the greens above my bed. I started doing this a couple of years ago, the first year we had these beams. This year, I really wove ribbon into the greens, added eucalyptus, and pulled out the gingham sheets. I’ve got brown gingham and blue gingham; it’s so cute!

The Christmas tree in here is simple for now. I’m still playing with it, but I think it looks pretty. And I just love having a Christmas tree in my bedroom. If you don’t have a tree in your bedroom, I highly recommend it. It’s so cozy.
