I am so excited to finally share all things Christmas with you all on the blog! I really try not to rush through seasons, but now that Thanksgiving and November have passed, it is finally time to start sharing all of my Christmas home decor. I am going to be sharing a full home tour soon of my new (and old) Christmas decor, but until then, I wanted to share my favorite thrifted Christmas decor ideas for a cozy holiday home!

While I love Hobby Lobby and Amazon, thrift stores are always on the top of my list when people ask me where to shop for Christmas decor. I have found so much of my holiday decor thrift shopping, including Christmas trees, faux greenery, ribbons, garlands and vintage ornaments! If you are wanting to decorate your home for the holiday season on a budget, thrifted decor is hands down the way to go.

I want to share with you some of my favorite, budget-friendly Christmas thrifted finds to hopefully give you some inspiration you to check out your local thrift store and see what you might find! As always, I recommend having an idea of what you want and or need before heading to the thrift shop. I like to browse Pinterest or Instagram to get some ideas of decor that I like and would want in my home. I always go through my “old” decor before I shop so I have a clear idea of what I already have and what I might need.

Just a quick disclosure: some of the thrifted items I share are also from garage sales and antique shops, but I still consider them “thrifty” finds because I got them all for an absolute bargain! I hope you enjoy these five thrifted Christmas decor ideas for a cozy holiday home!
1. Christmas Wreath
Man, so many of my wreaths are thrift store finds! I love a beautiful cedar or eucalyptus wreath with some velvet ribbon and maybe a few pinecones or bells. Plus, wreaths are so versatile, as you can hang them in an entryway or a fireplace mantel or on your front porch! They instantly add charm and holiday cheer to your home.

I have even made DIY Christmas wreaths out of items I have found at a thrift store. I find so many grapevine wreaths at second hand shops, and making a wreath is as simple as adding a few sprigs of cedar or eucalyptus, and then securing the stems with hot glue or wire.

2. Ice Skates
I love a classic pair of white skates hung up in my home during the winter season. There is something so beautiful about an old pair of vintage skates. My pair are currently hung up in my entryway on my number hooks next to (you guessed it haha) a wreath! This particular pair of ice skates were found at an antique shop.

Old skates can be found at thrift stores, but I usually spot them at antique shops. Don’t forget that you can absolute negotiate on price at antique stores. It never hurts to ask if the owner would be willing to take less. Have a number in mind to specifically ask for and the shop owner almost always will get close to the price within reason.

A few years ago, my little sister found a pair of snowshoes at an antique shop and asked me if I could do the negotiating for her as there were a few defects in the pair. The shop owner agreed to my price, and my sister got a great deal and a beautiful piece of vintage Christmas decor for her home!
3. Brass Musical Instruments
You will find a lot of brass elements in my Christmas decor, as I find brass has such a beautiful, warm hue that makes it pair perfectly with seasonal decor. Brass candlesticks for my candles is a staple for my dining room table centerpieces. However, my favorite brass pieces are the little french horn and cymbals I have on a shelf in my sun room!

I definitely think they are kids instruments, but I actually adore that about these pieces. Instruments are a perfect way to decorate for Christmas because they bring to mind all of my favorite Christmas carols, and who doesn’t love Christmas music!? Haha 🙂

4. Vintage Ornaments
I can’t begin to tell you how many gorgeous, vintage ornaments I have found at thrift stores! Boxes and bags full of the most beautiful ornaments you’ll ever find. While I love my handmade ornaments, there is just something so special and magical about those vintage glass ornaments. They don’t make ornaments like that nowadays!

Ornaments are a great way to add a pop of color to your Christmas tree. Personally, I love to use blues and creams on my tree with little hints of gold and silver! You can check out my Christmas tree I decorated a few years ago using thrifted and handmade elements here.

5. Gold Mirror

One of my favorite tricks to add some extra magic to my Christmas tree is to add a mirror behind the tree to reflect the string lights! The lights reflecting adds and extra cozy twinkle and glow to my living room. Mirrors certainly aren’t cheap, but you can find really reasonably priced and beautiful mirrors from thrift shops!

Well friends, that is just a quick roundup of my favorite thrifted Christmas decor ideas for a cozy holiday home! Where do you purchase most of your seasonal decor? I hope you are feeling inspired to go check out a thrift store and see what holiday decor you can find for your own cozy home!
