Spring Living Room Refresh with Bemz Slipcovers

Hey friends! I’m so excited to be sharing my spring living room today, because I’ve made so many changes in this space over the last couple of months!
As most of you probably know, we refinished our floors early this year, and as I began putting the house back together, one change lead to another.

First, I began playing with paint colors and decided to paint all of the trim in our dining and living room Stingray by Benjamin Moore, lightened by 50%.

I love this change so much, and I really feel like the ninety year old trim is truly highlighted throughout our home now. I love our wide baseboards and the unique millwork around the doors and windows, and now it really pops against the white walls!

Once everything was painted, I started playing with furniture arrangements. We decided to bring our Farlov chairs forward and place them closer to the couch, and I’m really loving this cozy feel.

Yes, it definitely makes the living room a bit smaller. But somehow the conversation is so much better, and I love that!

And speaking of my Farlov chairs…did you notice that they got a makeover? The change is very subtle, but we got new slipcovers for them!

Are you guys familiar with Bemz? It’s an amazing company that makes slipcovers for Ikea furniture! They have so many beautiful fabric choices, and they send samples to make your decision really easy.

I decided to go with Simply Linen in Chalk, and we are so happy with our choice. The slipcovers fit our chairs perfectly, and they are sooo soft.

They came packaged beautifully, and I didn’t have to wash them or even iron the covers. If you’re looking for a way to give your existing Ikea furniture a more high end look, you need to check out this company!

Since I brought my Ikea chairs forward, I had the opportunity to play around a little bit with the wall space on either side of the French doors that lead to the sunroom. I chose to hang some vintage artwork on one side of the doors, and I may look for a picture light to hang above it.

I also stacked some vintage baskets below the artwork that used to be in the sunroom, and I’m so happy that they are more visible now!

On the other side of the doors I simply used an old ladder that I found with you guys last year while garage sale-ing!

My coffee table is also different, I simply switched it out for a smaller pine chest that I had upstairs. Another small change, but I think it works better with the new layout.

My fireplace wall really stayed the same for now, I just added some florals for spring.

And that’s about it for the Spring Living Room Tour! What do you guys think about some of the changes I’ve made? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

I love all the little changes! My favorite is having the chairs closer to the sofa, it looks so cozy and inviting. Your home is so very sweet.
Thank you so much! I am loving the chairs!
Wow! Looks gorgeous! That trim is perfect.
Your living room is so beautiful!!! I am loving all the changes you have made. It looks so inviting and comfy. Can you tell me, where did you get the florals on your coffee table. They look like Queen Ann’s lace, and I’m thinking you added some greenery? It looks so real, I just love it!
Thank you so much Kelly! Here is a link for the queen anne’s lace: https://rstyle.me/+4FVxKuXQRXrQCuEf0qBoUQ and the greenery I mixed with it is from Hobby Lobby! 🙂
Thanks Andrea! You’re the best.
You are too sweet, thank you Kelly!
Beautiful! Warm and cozy while light and bright!
As usual everything looks lovely. I love your style, warm, homey and uncluttered. The paint color is beautiful. Are those fresh lilacs I see???
Can you tell me where you purchased the rug in living room
Hello! It is from Target, here is a link! 🙂 https://rstyle.me/+fdzNk7nUbhIyOuBF-LMyIA
Andrea, I love everything! It all looks so cozy and breezy. I am in clutterbug rehab. ;). I am collecting things to donate that just do not work here at home. I didn’t have intentional clutter, more like indecision so I was throwing various things at the house to see what stuck. I know what I love now, and not experimenting. :). I am still paring back and rearranging, and when I donated the “extra,” suddenly the house looked prettier without my even ADDING anything.
As a culture, we have too much STUFF, and much of it is not special but just stuff we end up with or hang onto. And some of it is cheaper filler items, not truly pretty or special stuff. If I have buyer’s remorse, it is hard to part with an item I spent any money on because it was wasteful and I am not rich, so it IS a big deal to me. But the money was wasted before, not once I am admitting it was a waste and donating it.
Your home is a beautiful place and you do not seem to me to have “stuff-itis.”. It is a refreshing style and each item looks carefully selected. I always enjoy watching you on YouTube and reading and seeing images of your beautiful home.
I just love this change! I can’t recall if you have shared where the little round accent table between the Farlov chairs is from, but I’d love to know!
It is just an antique, but here is a blog post I wrote about refinishing it! https://www.pineandprospecthome.com/citri-strip-spray-honest-review/
Hello, Andrea! I’ve followed you for several years now and certainly appreciate everything about your home and precious family. I’m repainting my living/dining area and love the look of the stingray for trim you have used in a similar area as mine. Please tell me what color the walls are that are blending so well with the stingray.
I know you are terribly busy this time of year and especially with the little new one you have now but I’m trying to get my painting done before Christmas. Hope you have a minute to respond on the paint color. Thank you very much and continued success and blessings for your channel.
Appreciatively, Cindy
I just love the way you decorate !
Would you please share where you purchased your rug. It is so soft and neutral and would be perfect for any room in my house !
Thank you
