Happy Friday friends! Summer is in full swing, and for us, that usually means spending less time inside, and more time outdoors enjoying the beautiful Michigan weather this time of year. I love to keep a clean and tidy home, but I don’t want to spend hours of my day inside cleaning when I could be out enjoying the pool haha That is where my favorite cleaning tool comes in handy: the Norwex EnviroCloth! Today I want to share how to use a Norwex EnviroCloth, plus how to give them a deep clean after multiple uses.

I really value using all-natural, safe and effective cleaning tools in my home, and Norwex really goes above and beyond my expectations. Plus, these microfiber cleaning cloths have lasted me for years, so they really are a quality, chemical-free cleaning tool. I started using the Norwex EnviroCloths since before my oldest son Ethan was born (he’s turning 13 this year!), and I still have the original cloth I started with 14 years later!

I know I have talked about these cleaning cloths a lot on my blog and YouTube, but today I wanted to share a quick guide and how to use the cloths, and how to give the cloths a deep clean after using them.

Why I Love the Norwex EnviroCloth

One of my favorite things about the Norwex EnviroCloth is that you can clean your entire home with just one super-absorbent microfiber cloth and water. Over the years, I’ve collected quite a few cloths that I use in different rooms throughout my home, but the truth is, you only need one cloth to safely and effectively clean almost every surface.

The cloths are made with BacLock®, an exclusive antimicrobial agent that protects the tightly woven microfibers by helping prevent odor-causing bacteria growth within the cloth itself. This means the cloth stays fresher between uses and is ready to use again and again. Even though you don’t need to deep clean it after every use, giving it a thorough cleaning is incredibly easy.

I also love that there are no harsh chemicals involved and that these cloths are built to last for years. There’s no need to keep buying cleaning sprays and foams, and you’ll likely find yourself reaching for paper towels much less often. They make cleaning my home so simple and efficient. And with four boys, anything that makes cleaning quicker is a win!

Wet the Cloth

Using Norwex EnviroCloths could not be easier! All you need is some cool water and you’re ready to go. Simply soak your cloth in cold water from the kitchen sink, wring it out well and you are ready to clean. I really like to make sure I’m squeezing all the water out, as a damp works better than soaking wet.

Fold into Quarters

This step is totally optional! But if you’re using one cloth for your whole home, and you don’t like the idea of using one side on both your bathroom and dining room table, you can fold your cloth up to use different sides for different surfaces. Folding your cloth can really speed up your cleaning session, but if you’d rather rinse out your cloth before starting on another room, you can check out how to clean your cloth in the next section.

Wipe Surfaces

Finally, and maybe self-explanatory, it’s time to wipe down your surfaces! I truly use this cloth everywhere and for nearly every surface. I clean my kitchen counters, wood hutches, glass windows and doors, and more all with one cloth! This little cloth is a power house for efficient cleaning.

Let the Cloth Dry

Once I’m finished cleaning, I do like to give my cloth a little rinse, which I will discuss in the section below. However, I like to hang my cloth where air can circulate to let it air dry and keep it fresh between uses.

Daily Care

Another great part about the Norwex EnviroCloth is that you can also use water to give these cloths a good rinsing! Instead of cold water, turn your faucet to hot and then saturate your cloth in the hot water. When you ring it out, you can sometimes see the discoloration from cleaning. I like to keep soaking it with hot water and wringing it out until the water runs clear. Once the water is clear, hang it up to air dry and you’re ready to use the cloth again!

Deep Cleaning

After a month or two of heavy use (I use these cloths daily) I like to give them a deeper clean than just hot water from the sink. One way I like to give them a deep clean is to boil some water on the stove and then let my cloths soak in the boiling water for several minutes.

cleaning tips

Another way you can deep clean your cloths is to use Norwex’s highly concentrated, enzyme-based laundry detergent. I have used their detergent and believe me, a little goes a long way! However, you absolutely do not need to use their laundry detergent for a deep clean. My go-to method is boiling! Just be sure to avoid bleaches or fabric softener as they can affect microfiber performance.

How Long Does a Norwex EnviroCloth Last?

Like I said at the beginning of this post, I have been using Norwex for nearly 14 years now! I started using them before I had my first child because I really wanted to use safe cleaning tools that were free of harsh chemicals. I still have the original cloth I started with, and that cloth has held up for 14 years.

I know it can be intimidating to purchase a $24.99 cloth; however, I truly believe they have saved me so much money over the years by not having to purchase cleaning sprays and foams, and by majorly reducing my paper towel usage. Proper care also makes a huge difference to ensure your cloths last like mine have!
