Believe it or not, one of the most visited posts on my blog is my review of our woven roller shades in our living and dining room.

I cannot believe that I first wrote that blog post five years ago now! Man time files. It feels like just yesterday that we installed these roller shades in our home. In fact, it was one of the very first collaborations I took on as blogger!
I have tried to update my original review of our shades a few times now, but I figured it was time for a fresh new blog post all about them.
I am not being paid to say any of this, and I have not been asked to give this honest review. Whenever I share photos or videos of my living or dining room, I am always, always asked about my roller shades.

I hope this review is a helpful resource! These cordless lift, custom window treatments are honestly one of my favorite home upgrades and have added some much needed privacy to my living spaces!
I am going to break down this post by answering my most frequently asked questions about our woven roller shades.
Where did you get your woven roller shades?
Our shades came from Select Blinds. Full disclosure, these shades were gifted to me as part of a collaboration. But like I said earlier, I have not been asked or paid to share this update. I’m just hoping I can be of help to some of you!
Select Blinds allows you to order up to 15 free samples and offers free shipping on all orders (no shipping fees!) as well as a warranty with a 100% money back guarantee. They offer custom-fit blinds and shades at affordable prices that come in many different fabrics and textures.

What was your experience like with Select Blinds?
Honestly, I had a great experience. They can create custom measurement that fit the exact width of your window, which is awesome if you have an older home like I do. You can also get design experts advice on which new shades would fit your home best.

Select Blinds also offers a two year warranty, which I think is great.
I also love the fact that they send samples! I ordered so many samples before making my decision, which I would highly recommend. Purchasing new blinds can be a little intimidating, but Select Blinds made it so much simpler. I was confident in my selected color of my woven wood shades because I was able to see it in my home.

Samples online always look different in person than they do on a screen.
What type of woven roller shades do you have?
We have the Premier Woven Roller in the color “Camel”. You can find them here! They have so many options though if you prefer a different look! Bamboo, continuous cord loop, even some with a remote control!

Are your shades light filtering?
Yes, mine are light filtering. But you can actually purchase blinds or shades that have a liner and block more of the light.

How are your shades holding up after 5 years?
Honestly? They are holding up great! If you watch the video linked above, you’ll see a few strings that have come loose here and there.

But for shades that we literally pull top down every evening and pop bottom up every night, I’m pretty impressed with how well they have held up.
Any cons that you can think of?
Maybe just a few.
First of all, you sort of have to manually adjust these to get them to the height you want. So unlike my Roman shades that I have in the sunroom, you can’t just pop these up in the morning and let go. They will roll all the way up (which is fine If you like that look).

I like to see a little bit of my shades, so I keep them pulled down a bit. If you have windows that are right next to each other, it can sometimes be tricky getting the windows to match.

If you are a perfectionist or a little OCD, these shades might not be for you – ha! I would go for a Roman shade style with a cord instead.
The other con is that I feel as though the inside mount brackets sticks out more on these roller shades that it does on my sunroom shades. It’s not a defect or overly obtrusive by any means, and I could purchase an extra piece from select blinds that would hide it on installation, but I chose not to. If your window has a lot of depth, the mounting surface wouldn’t be an issue!

Maybe one other con would be that over time, the mechanisms can get a bit squeaky. Be sure to watch the video to hear what they sound like when you roll them up and down, hah!

I hope sharing my honest thoughts on our woven roller shades was a help to you guys! If there is anything I missed, or if you have any other questions please let me know in the comments below!

This blog post/video was a huge help to me in deciding on purchasing roller shades, so thank you! You mentioned you’d be sharing a video about your Roman shades in your dining room I believe. I have searched for that but have not found it because I too am wanting to do Roman shades throughout the other parts of the house. If you have posted it, can you point me in the right direction? Thank you!
Hello! The shades I used in the bedrooms and sunroom are posted in this blog post, just scroll through the bottom for the names of the ones that I purchased. Let me know if you can’t find them! https://www.pineandprospecthome.com/sunroom-window-bench-reveal/
Thanks to the information in this post, I was able to confidently make the decision to buy roller blinds. I believe you said you were going to upload a video showcasing the Roman shades in your dining area. I, too, would like to instal Roman shades in the rest of the home, so I’ve been looking for something like that.
Andrea, I’m in LOVE with your woven roller blinds! We recently purchased a coastal home and are looking for more organic window treatments (like this!) for our sliding glass doors. I’m ordering a handful of Premier Woven Roller samples as we speak! I am wondering if SelectBlinds has a partnership with you for a promotional code. Thank you for your consideration and for this blog post! 🙂
Thank you so much Adriana! Actually all of the links in this post are my affiliate links that will help me, thank you so much for asking! That was so considerate!
Thanks for sharing this blog.
Your roller blinds are chic! 🌈 Where did you get them? Thinking of upgrading mine. Share your styling secrets!
From Select Blinds, thank you!
Andrea in the picture of your sample, which one was Camel? Select Blinds doesn’t have camel anymore so trying to match it as close to your blinds!! Thank you!
Oh no! They must have discontinued that color, thankfully you can get samples. I would get this style: https://www.dpbolvw.net/click-100739422-15889991?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.selectblinds.com%2Froller-shades%2Flifestyle-woven-roller-shade.html%3FcolorId%3D12125%26width%3D22%26height%3D42&cjsku=1460 and try the color redbud, that looks super similar! I hope this helps!
