Springtime Cottage Living Room Tour 2021

The warm, sunny weather not only has inspired me to work outside, but inside as well! I am excited to share a few simple changes I have made on this springtime cottage living room tour!
Today I’m sharing my springtime cottage living room with you all! Seasonal decorating doesn’t have to be cluttered or overwhelming. A few simple changes can make all the difference as you shift your decor over to spring!

The first area in my living room I’d like to focus on is our fireplace wall! Back in March I shared how I lightened up our barn beam mantel. In my opinion, the softened wood tone looks so much better with the custom mushroom color that I created for the built-ins last fall.

Changing up our mantel then lead to an update for both the wood on the bench and shelves on either side of the fireplace. My husband sanded off the finish that had really yellowed over time, and I used a combination of Classic Gray, Ebony, and Special Walnut by Minwax to match the same tones that I created on the mantel.

I absolutely love all of the wood on these built-ins in my living room now, and I definitely feel like that entire area is more cohesive. Am I 100% set on the mushroom accent color I created? I’ll be honest, some days I LOVE it, and other days I walk in to my living room and feel unsure still haha!
The only seasonal change that I made in this area are the flowers you see in the antique crock in front of the shelves. It’s amazing the difference some green makes in your decor! Just a little bit adds so much life and interest.

As we continue down that same wall, you can see the cream curtains from Ikea that I added, as well as my Grandfather’s antique duck decoys. I shared this change already over on my Instagram stories, but I simply added some wire to the back of each duck and hung them on preexisting nails. I love the texture and color they add, and of course they are so extremely special to me since they were Grandpa’s.

I switched some side tables around and added a primitive stool to this corner with an old minnow bucket full of flowers. Again, I kept things simple and minimal.

In the opposite corner, I simply added a spring pillow that I found at Target, as well as a chippy blue bench that I scored on my last day in Oak Island, North Carolina! I don’t know if the bench will stay here but it’s such a treasure, and I just love the texture and color it adds to this space.

Not a whole lot changed on my sofa wall! I would love to potentially find another floral pillow for that springtime feel, but I haven’t quite found the perfect fabric yet. The coffee table is pretty minimal, but I did add some florals to the table that I stripped a few years ago! They add the perfect spring touch.

The vintage pulley you see there was a flea market find, I thought it was so cool when I saw it and had to bring it home with me!

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this springtime cottage living room tour! How do you decorate for springtime? Do you keep things minimal, or do you go all out? Let me know in the comments below!

Your room looks so fresh & springy!
I love the mushroom color too.
Great idea for the duck decoys. I have my Dad’s & wasn’t sure where to use them. Now they can swim upstream on the wall! Thanks for sharing!
I love that you are going to try this idea too! Thank you for your sweet words!
Hi. Love your home! Just gorgeous. I was looking for the post about how you refinished your coffee table. (You mentioned it in the video.) I can’t seem to find it. Can you help? Thanks!
Hello Susan, thank you so much! I discussed the coffee table further in this post, I hope this helps! https://www.pineandprospecthome.com/my-favorite-facebook-marketplace-finds-in-our-cottage-style-home/
It looks lovely. You’re so good at just the right touch.
Gorgeous home. Loving your style! Can you share where you got your sofa and the rug that is over the jute rug in your living room? Thanks, and am looking forward to your next video!
Thank you so much! We purchased our sofa at a local furniture store several years ago, but we got our rug from Target! I hope this helps!
I tend to lean more towards being a minimalist. Your home is gorgeous and has just the right balance of decor. Thanks for sharing your decor with us!
New sub to your You Tube channel and have spent the last hour trying to find the source to your brass floor lamp in the corner of your living room (next to the white chair and duck decoys). I have the same exact set up in my living room and cannot find the perfect small floor lamp for my corner, until I saw your Home Spring Tour video. I just checked the Target website, so I hope it’s there, lol! Loving your style and enjoying watching all of your past videos.
Hello Kim! Thank you so much, here is a link for the lamp as well! https://rstyle.me/+8ceH-rY8-L8SNsDrgMVuxg
Hi! I keep looking on your posts and can’t find what color your woven shades are (not the the roller ones). Is it Fiji Honey? thanks!
Yes, it’s Fiji Honey, I actually go into more detail about them in this post towards the bottom: https://www.pineandprospecthome.com/sunroom-window-bench-reveal/
Hi! Just got a copy of Better Homes and Gardens Cottage Style and your home was featured! I fell in love with the numbered coat hooks, would you be willing to share where you found them? Thank you!
Thank you so much! You can find them here under entryway: https://www.pineandprospecthome.com/shop-our-home/
