My Favorite Facebook Marketplace Finds in our Cottage Style Home

Today I’m sharing my favorite Facebook Marketplace Finds in our Cottage Style Home, as well as some tips and tricks for shopping home decor on Facebook!
I’m joining my friend Lisa today from Farmhouse on Boone and and we are both sharing our favorite Facebook Marketplace finds in our home! I know Lisa has scored some amazing antiques on marketplace, so be sure to check out my YouTube video and head to her channel afterwards for even more inspiration!
I started using Facebook Marketplace a few years ago now, and I absolutely love it. I love the fact that you can scroll from the comfort of your home, and I also love that you can find unique items that no on else is going to have. I have so many marketplace finds that I could share with you, but today I’ve narrowed it down to five.

Facebook Marketplace Finds in our Cottage Style Home
Coffee Table
The first Facebook Marketplace find I’d like to share with you is our coffee table. It was pretty orange when we picked it up, but I stripped it using Citristrip and I finished it off with some white wax to soften the warm tones a little more.

It’s a reproduction table but I love the lines of it and the European feel that it has in my living room. I had one lady tell me that the scallops on the corners of the table were actually meant for women to set their tea cup down when they gathered for tea! How neat is that?

I paid $60 for this piece, and believe me I tried to offer less. The table is solid wood and so unique though that I don’t regret paying that at all. I love how it looks in our living room!
Corner Hutch
I have already shared all about my corner hutch on the blog here if you’re interested in knowing the color and seeing the before pictures! It was dark green when I purchased it, and I paid $150 which is a lot of money for us. I will tell you how I was able to afford it a little later on in the post!

I love this hutch and how it displays my dishes so beautifully, and the scalloped detail at the top is my absolute favorite!

Pine Cabinet
The pine cabinet in our bedroom was also a Facebook marketplace find! I love this little cabinet and I have an entire blog post about the raw wood finish that it has if you’re interested in achieving the same look.

It doesn’t match my other nightstand perfectly, but that’s what I love about cottage style decor. Things don’t have to be perfect. You want your home to have a collected, lived in feel and I think Facebook marketplace is so great for achieving this vibe.

Fireplace Mantel
If you’ve been following along here pretty regularly you know that my new barn beam mantel was also a Facebook marketplace find! We paid $60 for this gorgeous, reclaimed beam and I cannot believe the difference that it made in our home.

It added so much warmth and character and I’m just so in love with the combination of the stone and wood.

Carriage Doors
My last marketplace find that I’m sharing today are the carriage doors that we picked up for our shed last fall.

My husband has always hated our shed, but I have always seen so much potential in it and I think it could be so pretty, don’t you??

Well, one of the biggest eye sores was the ugly garage door that wasn’t original to the home. I could just picture some beautiful doors with so much more character, but new carriage doors were thousands of dollars.

I decided to give Facebook marketplace a find, and there they were. A set of gorgeous carriage doors that came with a window, all for $150. That was a lot of money, yes. But we needed a new garage door desperately (the old one was extremely difficult to open) and with a little handiwork from my husband, these would fit perfectly.

Facebook Marketplace Tips and Tricks
Offer Less
My first tip would be to always offer less. You can try messaging them first if you’re not comfortable doing it in person, but I have found that almost 9 times out of 10 the seller is willing to negotiate.
Never Go Alone
Never pick anything up alone, always have someone with you. You just never know these days, so I always make sure to have my husband come along whenever I am going to pick anything up from Facebook marketplace.
See the Potential
If you’re not looking for a project, I totally understand. But if you don’t want to spend a lot and you’re on a tight budget, sometimes the pieces that need makeovers are the best scores and so satisfying once you’ve updated them!
Sell!
If something is outside your budget or more than what you want to spend, look around your house and try to find things that you could maybe sell in order to pay for a replacement! I do this all the time, and I love to be able to purchase things knowing that I made that money from something I sold. Win win!
Well I hope you enjoyed my Facebook Marketplace finds in our cottage style home. 🙂 I’m sure this will be the first of many Facebook marketplace posts, haha! Do you shop Facebook Marketplace? What types of things have you found? I’d love to hear in the comments below!

PIN IT FOR LATER

I love your attitude toward life and possessions and your style. But, your husband is man of the decade. He’s so involved and willing to tackle ideas you come up with. He has a lot of skill and patience. I think everyone would love a blog post of his ideas, too. You are a lucky woman.
Hi Rose, your comment made my husband smile SO big haha!! I LOVE that idea and beg my husband to do YouTube videos with me all the time but he is camera shy haha. One of these days I think he will give in 😉 Thank you so much for your kind words, that was so very sweet of you to tell us that!! He really is amazing 🙂
