Pears, white mini pumpkins, eucalyptus and candlelight make this table-scape warm and inviting and so easy to recreate. A simple, cream colored place setting combined with faux greenery and natural elements gives this dining table charm and texture.

Hi friends! Today I’ve joined twelve talented bloggers and together we are sharing some holiday/Thanksgiving tablescape ideas that will hopefully inspire your own fall table settings as we enter this busy yet exciting season.
But first – I have a funny story to share. I ALMOST pulled out of this table-scape blog hop because…we were without a dining room table!! Ha!
My husband built our old table and bench 6 years ago and surprised me on Christmas Eve. We got home from my in laws and there it was, sitting in our dining room. Mike asked some family members to sneak it in the house for me while we were at his parents’ house that night, and I was completely shocked. I had NO idea it was coming!
I loved that table and honestly there was nothing wrong with it, but over the years Mike’s tool collection grew and he learned a lot more about wood working. He constantly made comments in reference to our rustic table about how he “would have done this different and that different”, and he finally asked me one day if he could just build a new one.
So on a whim I decided to list our old table on Facebook marketplace. If you follow me on Instagram, you already know the whole story. I woke up to 6 offers and within a day someone was at our house picking it up!
We weren’t expecting that at all, and I figured we’d be having picnics on the floor for a while. My sweet husband must have been excited to build a new one though, because that very night we already had a gorgeous table sitting in our dining room (you’ll see sneak peeks throughout this post)!
I am so in love with it and I can’t wait to share the plans with you and all the details! But for now it sits in our dining room unfinished, waiting for stain. I’m really trying to find the perfect color stain, making sure it doesn’t look too orange. I recently filled all the cracks and holes with wood filler and just as I was messaging Bre to tell her I had to pull out of this hop, a thought hit me: TABLECLOTH!

I threw some canvas drop cloths on my table and went to work looking for what I ALREADY had.
Yes, I realize we still don’t have a bench or chairs in this blog post. Hopefully you can visualize, haha! My husband should be building the bench this weekend.

But this is so important to remember when you’re hosting friends or family: you don’t need to spend tons of money to create a beautiful table. Look for things you already have! A simple table runner or some linens can go a long way, creating a neutral base for you to build off of.

Table-scape elements: pears, white pumpkins, eucalyptus and brass candle holders
Like I said, I began with a canvas drop cloth for my table. Nothing fancy, but it was the perfect backdrop for my centerpiece. I knew I wanted to add some candles, as they add so much ambiance to a tablescape.

I went thrifting last week and found the prettiest brass candlesticks at just a dollar each. I also scored some beautiful, deep green taper candles, each just 50 cents. I love the warmth that brass adds, especially during the holiday season. The mixture of the green and brass together was so beautiful to me, so I placed the candles on the table and continued on with that theme. You could also opt for copper colored metals as well!

I opened the fridge to discover a few bags of pears I had purchased for the kids. I loved the idea of using fruit as my centerpiece, especially fruit that’s in season. Pumpkins, gourds, apples, berries; really any fresh fruit that is in season would work! I love using big pumpkins for a Thanksgiving centerpiece.

I wanted to tie the candles to the centerpiece, so I laid some (faux) seeded eucalyptus stems down the center of table and placed the pears throughout. I also gathered the white pumpkins I had throughout my home and mixed those in as well. Fall leaves would make a beautiful statement as well.

I wanted the focus to be on the centerpiece, so I chose simple white dishes and clear glassware. I of course used my pfaltzgraff dinner plates and bowls, with simple, striped linen napkins placed underneath as placemats.

I don’t have brass silverware so I had to make due with what I had and mix metals. Honestly though, I think brass and silver pairs well during the holidays.

I added a wooden tray or breadboard with my little dutch oven for some extra charm. I kept things minimal on the buffet but continued the table scape theme using pears, white pumpkins and eucalyptus.

A small tip – I see glass cake stands at thrift stores all the time, and they are so perfect for bringing height to your table or buffet, and are much more versatile than vases, which can really only display floral arrangements!

I was a little nervous to share our unfinished dining space today, especially among so many talented bloggers. But my hope is that you can be encouraged and inspired by this tablescape tutorial to create a beautiful table of your own without spending a lot of money or having the perfect dining room space. A little fall foliage and some natural elements can really go a long way!

Next time you’re at the grocery store buying fruit, maybe you’ll think of me and use it for more than just an afternoon snack! 🙂
Thanks so much for stopping by today friends. I can’t wait to share the finished table with you all!
