The last time I shared our dining room table, it was covered in a drop cloth and styled for Thanksgiving. Since then, we have stained and sealed our tabletop, ordered chairs, and built a matching bench! I just love the way it all turned out.
I am almost done decorating for Christmas, and since there are so many beautiful details all over the house, I really wanted to keep my Christmas table decorations simple with a neutral color palette and texture.

You guys know that I’m all about free, thrifty decor, so I really didn’t want to spend a lot of money on table settings. Here are a few tips for creating an elegant Christmas tablescape that won’t break the bank this holiday season.
Ribbon and Pine Clippings Christmas Table Tip #1 – Let Nature Inspire You

Look outside for your centerpiece. I love incorporating natural elements, and this diy greenery garland is the perfect touch for this Christmas table setting! I clipped a few branches from a pine tree (ask for permission if necessary) near our home and ta-dah! Free Christmas decor! A few additional natural element ideas for your holiday table are evergreen sprigs, eucalyptus, orange slices, or even pine cones!

There is nothing more beautiful than bringing the outside inside for a Christmas centerpiece. The smell of these pine clippings in our home brought back so many childhood memories! We always had a real Christmas tree growing up, and one day I’d like to start that tradition as well. I love our faux tree this year, but in my opinion – the more trees, the better!

Ribbon and Pine Clippings Christmas Table Tip #2 – Keep Things Simple
Once I had all the pine clippings centered and laid out, I took some extra ribbon I had and tied it on a branch near the ends of the table to give it a vintage Christmas feel. The ribbon and pine clippings are classics, and I almost didn’t want to add anything else.

Sometimes less is more when it comes to decor, and in this case I truly felt like I didn’t need to add much of anything else. No need for table runners or napkin rings; simply some thrifted white dishes and glassware as place settings, a few gold antique ornaments to tie into my tree (also thrifted) and that was it!

Ribbon and Pine Clippings Christmas Table Tip #3 – Add Some Twinkle
There is something so magical about twinkle lights at Christmas time, but you can achieve the same glow with taper candles, or even metallic elements like ornaments to reflect the light.

I have been loving these little fairy lights I got from Amazon this year, they are so magical wherever I place them! You can see how I used them on my buffet and dining room shelves.

That little twinkle just draws your eye in and creates the prettiest glow, especially around my glass vases!

I also included some metallic elements like brass on my shelves, and of course I had to include my Grandma’s vintage Santa molds! Aren’t they darling?

You may have noticed that our buffet got a little makeover as well! I repainted it using four parts “Pure White” to one part “Linen” by Jolie Paints. I cleaned up the original hardware and so far I think I love the way it turned out.

Again, I kept things simple on the buffet using just a wreath, wooden horse and some ornaments scattered among fairy lights.
I’m excited to invite some guests over for a Christmas dinner! I love how this ribbon and pine clippings Christmas table came together, and now I can’t wait to check out all the other beautiful tables below for more holiday inspiration!

Beautiful. How do you deal with sticky pine sap dripping from your pine clippings?
Thank you Angelyn! You know it’s funny, I originally cut two different kinds of pine, but the one variety was just way too sticky! The variety I ended up using wasn’t bad at all though! I did have them sitting in water for a few days, so that may have helped?
I love your table so much, Andrea! The clippings look AMAZING. Simplistic beauty for the win!
