Early fall home tour

Autumn is officially here and today I am sharing my early fall home tour!

Every year, unlike a lot of bloggers, I wait as long as I possibly can to say farewell to summer and welcome fall into my home. I may be a summer girl at heart, but I still love all things autumn! Cozy candles, pumpkin spice, sweater weather, corn mazes and hay rides – there are so many reasons to embrace the coziness of fall.

Fall home tour

Honestly, the past few weeks haven’t felt much like fall at all. We have had some really warm weather here in Michigan! When I step out on my front porch, it still feels like July haha However, even though it’s been unseasonably warm here, autumn has officially begun according to the calendar, so I am sharing some early fall decor with you today on the blog.

As the weather continues to cool down, I am sure I will add more and more to my cozy fall decor, but for now I am content with a few minimal fall touches. It is important to me as a blogger and homemaker to be very intentional with the pieces I choose to decorate my home with.

While it is fun to go shopping for new fall decor, I always want to be mindful of the decor I already own and try my best to be responsible with the resources I have been blessed with. I hope this early fall home tour gives you inspiration to start putting up some autumn decor as well, and that you don’t need a ton of decor to make your home feel cozy for fall!

Fall Home Entryway

The first space I want to share with you is my entryway! If you follow along on YouTube, you have already gotten a sneak peak of this space with some thrifty DIY fall decor, as well as a few scores from various home and craft stores.

I have added a few subtle changes to make my entryway instantly feel like fall; a cozy scarf to the number hooks by my front door for some texture, a few dried fall stems and a faux pumpkin (just util I am able to find a real one). Like I said, I am trying to keep my fall home decor very minimal and intentional.

In my living room, I switched up the throw blanket to a more orange and beige toned blanket that was an Amazon purchase from last year. I added a some cream colored flowers and stems to my coffee table as well as my side table, and a few fall stems to the crock near my fireplace mantel.

I decided to keep my cottage themed artwork up throughout my living room as the colors are pretty muted and work well with my autumn decor. I am considering maybe adding a few warm colored pillows or even switching out a few pillow covers to more autumnal tones, but for now I am content with the early fall touches I have added to this space.

Sunroom

I don’t have a ton of fall decor happening in this space, but I did add some dried hydrangeas to the open shelves, as well as a DIY hydrangea wreath that I made this year. Honestly, my sunroom is so small that I think I can get away with adding just a few fall pieces here and there! No need to go overboard and overwhelm the small room.

If you want to take a look at how I decorated my sunroom for fall last year, you can read all about it here. It honestly is still pretty minimal, but there are a few more pumpkins and dried stems that I placed on our piano and built-in desk.

Dining Room

Once again, I only made a few changes in my dining room, starting with exchanging the flowers in the crock on my buffet console table with more fall toned stems. I also added some thrifted faux pears to the bowl on my buffet, but will probably switch them out for small pumpkins or gourds here soon. A dough bowl in place of the glass bowl I have there would also bring some autumnal warmth into this space.

On the other side of my dining room, I added a faux pumpkin and hung some dried stems to my breadboard display rack. I always encourage my followers to dry their own flowers and stems. It saves so much money and you can continue to use them year after year. Plus, dried flowers is such an easy way to DIY beautify your home during the fall and Christmas season!

Of course I plan to add some real pumpkins to my dining room. I just need to take a little stroll down a county road one of these days and pick one up from a local stand. That’s midwest life for you – pumpkin stands and wheat fields everywhere haha I wonder if any of my southern home owner subscribers have similar fall experiences? Let me know in the comments below!

The last thing I did in my dining room is added a small wreath to my corner cabinet. I simply added a small command strip and hung the wreath to add some warmth and texture.

In the kitchen, I added some more fall stems to the basket above my fridge. I love utilizing this space for seasonal decor, as it doesn’t clutter up my countertops which I am constantly using for cooking and baking up some delicious fall treats.

In today’s YouTube video, you’ll see during the fall home tour that I am cooking dinner with some fresh vegetables from my vegetable garden, and my kitchen pretty much looks like this daily. It is vital to me that I keep my kitchen mostly free of decor to focus on the more important work – homemaking!

I did add a few stems to a vase on my counter, as well as a faux pumpkin to a glass bowl stacked in the corner near my fridge. I also added a cute little pumpkin dish that can be used for salt, sugar or other even some homemade caramels!

Candles are another easy way to add a touch of fall to your home. You know I love Antique Candle Co. because of their commitment to making non-toxic, clean burning candles with heavenly scents! My favorite scents for fall are Pumpkin Bread, Spice Cake, Fall Harvest and Mamma’s Kitchen. I have them burning all over my house all day long.
