Today I’m sharing our cozy Christmas bedroom with you guys! Every year I love to decorate each room in our home a little differently, and I absolutely love how our bedroom came together this year! From the garland draped along our beams, to the vintage decor details, its so festive and charming.

I enjoyed decorating with old world vintage Christmas colors, twinkly lights, ribbon, cedar, and other antique pieces this year, and I hope these Christmas decor ideas give you some inspiration for your own Christmas bedroom space! If you don’t decorate your bedroom for Christmas, I highly recommend it. It is so much fun to do!

Cottage Christmas Bedroom – The Greenery
The first thing I wanted to share in my bedroom space is the greenery. Last year, I draped a simple garland over the top of our headboard. This year I had a 20 foot garland I purchased at Marshalls that was perfect to drape along the reclaimed beams!
I originally bought this garland for the archway entering into my dining room space downstairs, but it ended up being way too long. I knew I still wanted to use it, it’s such pretty greenery – and I finally thought to drape it in my bedroom above our bed. I absolutely love it.

I added dried orange slices and a beautiful velvet frayed ribbon bow in the center which in my opinion adds so much old world charm to the already gorgeous greenery. My mom always uses dried orange slices at Christmas, and it truly is such a pretty addition to Christmas decor.
I also decided to add garland around the door entering into our closet and master bath area. I added the same orange slices and frayed velvet ribbon to this garland as well, and love this view from our bed at night.

On top of my dresser, I have white candles and filled my dough bowl with fresh cedar. This simple touch adds so much festive cheer and nothing compares to fresh cedar or pine branches in holiday decor.
On the top of my husband’s dresser, I added a pair of old antique ice skates, along with more beautiful cedar. Cedar and ice skates are perfect Christmas decorations, but they also can be kept up all winter long!
I added more cedar to a rustic metal container on top of the bench at the entryway of our bedroom. I hung an antique stocking stretcher behind it, and added a pretty ribbon for more holiday cheer.

Above the shutters in the seating area I added a small thrifted wreath that I purchased for just a few dollars that I added string lights to. It fits the space perfectly, and is so pretty lit up at night in our bedroom. This tiny little wreath brings so much warmth to this sitting area!

Cottage Christmas Bedroom – The Bed Area
Last year I searched and searched for Christmas bedding that felt festive and matched my cottage Christmas decor, but everything I liked was overpriced. I recently added these pretty gingham pillow covers though which tie in the color scheme of our bedroom. I think they are charming any season, but paired with the draped garland look extra festive.
There are a few different layers of sheets, blankets and a quilt made of different textiles on the bed. Layers of blankets on your bed help pull together the color palette of your room, and help to achieve a cozy bedroom. A throw blanket across the bench at the bottom of the bed brings more comfort.
Next to the cozy bed, I added the antique chair my husband purchased for me from Germany. It is so beautiful and the perfect quaint touch to the small desk/bedside table in our room. On the other nightstand, I added a few bottle brush trees and a gorgeous box with a vintage Santa with a bit of sparkle on the top that really brings Christmas spirit.

Cozy Cottage Christmas Bedroom – The Tree
My favorite part of our bedroom besides the gorgeous draped greenery, is the Christmas tree that we placed in the corner of the sitting area. You can find the small tree here, I just love the Charlie Brown feeling it has and the old fashioned look I was able to create this year.
I decided to bring the same brown velvet ribbon onto the tree, with the addition of orange slices as well. I also added a mixture of cream, white and silver ornaments as well as mercury glass bulbs. I love the way the tree turned out, so stunning in that pretty little corner.

Cottage Christmas Bedroom – Sitting Area
The newest addition to this space is the beautiful antique washstand that I placed between the two chairs below the window. It is so rustic and brings so much charm. With the tree sharing this space, I kept the decor on top of the washstand simple with just a few touches of cedar.
I have an old basket that I still haven’t decided on the perfect spot for that has simple wrapping paper and more cedar touches inside. I love it both next to my bed and in the seating area, but of course I’ll use the wrapping paper for gifts, so I love that I can just pick it up and take it where needed!

I just love the way this whole area came together with the newer bedroom layout and one of my favorite DIY projects from last year – the beautiful wood beams. Our cozy Christmas bedroom is truly a space I will enjoy this entire season.
