My 5 All Time Favorite Thrift Store Finds!

Hello friends! My subscribers probably know by all of the thrift hauls I share that I’m a little bit of a thrifting connoisseur haha It’s no secret that I love thrift shopping; finding unique treasures for my home at great prices is a special feeling. I’m an avid thrifter and I love stopping by my local Goodwill or local thrift stores to see what gems I might find for only a few bucks.
I say it all of the time, but having a beautiful home does not mean you have to spend all of your money on brand new, full price home decor! I believe the most impressive treasures are the unique pieces you find on a thrift store shelf for just a couple of dollars. I hope sharing my favorite thrift finds inspires you to shop second hand for your own home!
So much of my home is from thrift shops, Facebook Marketplace, yard sales and flea markets! If you follow my blog, Instagram or Pinterest, you know I can’t get enough of second hand finds. I shared a YouTube video last week of some amazing garage sale finds for my aunt’s cabin that she graciously lets us use.
As a history lover, I also enjoy thinking about where a vintage piece may have come from. Who owned it and how did it make its way into the thrift shop? I like to give these special pieces new life in my home and who knows? Maybe one day they will all end up back in a thrift store haha

Three Tiered Basket
My absolute, all time favorite thrift store find is this three tiered basket! My mom actually found this while out thrifting and sent me a picture asking if I wanted it. I didn’t know where to put it, so I wasn’t immediately sold on it, believe it or not.
Thankfully she convinced me to buy it even though I didn’t have a spot for it yet, and it eventually made its way into my entryway. Now it’s been there for years and I can’t imagine this space without it! My inbox is always filled with requests on where to buy one and I sadly have to tell everyone it’s a thrift find!
I love how unique this basket it, and if you look up similar baskets online, they go for hundreds of dollars! I am always in disbelief at what an amazing deal on got on this one of kind three tiered basket and how well it works with my cottage decor.
Bedroom Nightstand
This nightstand was originally an orange color when I purchased it, but we had the luck of only having to sand it to get it to this beautiful, raw wood color. It’s such a cute little addition to my bedroom furniture and adds to the cozy, cottage feel of this space.
Don’t be intimidated if you find a piece of furniture that needs some work! Almost all of the wood pieces in my home have been refinished either with sanding, stain or paint. You can still save a lot of money buying thrifted furniture and some paint versus purchasing a brand new piece of furniture!
Pfaltzgraff Collection
When I found a few mismatched pieces of Pfaltzgraff at a thrift store, I had no idea what I had stumbled upon. I just thought the pieces looked pretty and would make a great display on my dining room shelves.
When I got home, I looked up the pieces I had purchased out of curiosity and discovered that I had purchased the Pfaltzgraff Heritage collection. I was instantly sold on these beautiful pieces of history and knew I wanted to collect more!
From that point on, I kept my eyes peeled for Pfaltzgraff any time I would go thrifting and thankfully, I continued to find pieces to add to my collection! Over the years I have added cups and saucers, dinner plates, a large pitcher, cream and sugar, and more pieces to my collection!
Repurposed Lamp
One of my favorite project thrift finds was this lamp I purchased for $3! Originally, the lamp was white but had a sort of pottery look to it. I saw the potential and brought it home to give it a little makeover!
I was inspired by a beautiful lamp a friend of mine had shared, but the price tag was way out of my budget. When I saw this lamp at the thrift store, I knew I could create something similar with paint. First I painted the lamp the color “Linen” by Jolie, my favorite chalk paint!
Then I painted over it with some leftover dark grey paint I had in my basement. I wiped off a few spots with paper towel to reveal some of the original white underneath the paint, but still wasn’t in love with the look.
I whitewashed it with a little watered down white paint, and then blotted it with a little black acrylic paint. I used a brush to sort of “sand” off some of the paint and reveal the original texture underneath. Once it dried, I sealed it with dark wax by Annie Sloan. I love the transformation of this lamp, and how it looks like a beautiful piece of pottery!
Breadboard Collection
While not all of my breadboards have been purchased in thrift stores, a good portion of them have been! Breadboards are definitely one of those items that I am always on the lookout for while I thrift. I love natural wood textures in my home, and I love finding unique wooden items to bring into my spaces.
My husband helped me build this little breadboard display as my collection grew, and I’m always on the hunt for a new, unique piece to add to the display! The older and more misshapen the board, the better haha I even have a breadboard all the way from Germany!
