DIY Barnwood Sofa Table for a Cozy, Collected Living Room

Today, I’m sharing our DIY barnwood sofa table and how we styled it in our living room!

I’ve always loved the warmth and texture that old wood brings to a space, so when I had the idea to add a skinny sofa table behind our couch, I knew I wanted to use old barnwood. My husband, Mike, put together this simple DIY barnwood sofa table, and I love the character the weathered wood adds to our living room.

A Simple DIY Sofa Table Made from Old Barnwood

The design is very simple, using reclaimed barnwood to create a narrow table that fits right behind our sofa. Since we have a small living room, I didn’t want anything too bulky or anything that would take up too much of our seating space.

One thing I love about this table is that it’s barely visible from the front of the couch. The cushions hide most of it, but it’s still the perfect spot for Mike to set his morning coffee!

Decorating a Narrow Sofa Table

For now, we’re keeping the styling fairly simple with a vintage window mirror, a pottery vase, and some fall faux stems in warm, earthy tones. I love how these pieces complement the weathered barnwood and add a little texture and warmth behind the couch. I’m still playing around with different decorating ideas, but I want to keep things practical and uncluttered so the table doesn’t get in the way when people are sitting on the sofa.

I love how the old barnwood adds warmth and texture without making the room feel too busy. We may tweak the design a little as we live with it, but for now, it’s a simple DIY project that adds both character and function to our living room.
