Today I’d like to share with you a simple DIY fall wreath that I put together with stems I already had on hand. While I’m not quite ready to decorate for fall, I have definitely been thinking about fall decor!

Seeing all the pumpkins and autumn leaves in the department stores sure is tempting, but when you live in Michigan, you have to cling to every last bit of summer that you can!

I’m in no rush, and when it comes to seasonal decorating, I like for mine to reflect what’s actually happening in nature outside. It’s not always possible, especially in the spring when you’re desperate to pull out the faux flowers and it’s still snowing outside, ha!

But where we live, a lot of the trees in September are still green, so the red and orange fall decor doesn’t feel right quite yet. 😉 In fact, I tend to stay pretty neutral throughout the entire fall season.

I love the way this wreath came out, and it was honestly so easy! Here’s what I used for this project:

DIY Fall Wreath Materials:

I purchased my faux apples at a thrift store, and the pumpkins I found at the Dollar Tree!

The eucalyptus that I’m using for this wreath came from Hobby Lobby, and the pussy willow branches and green leaves I actually found years ago in the floral department at Walmart.

The rest of my supplies can be purchased at any craft store like Michael’s or JoAnn Fabrics!

Weave your pussy willow branches into the grapevine wreath. I didn’t use any floral wire for my stems, I simply shoved and tucked and twisted it in a way so that each stem wouldn’t come loose. You can see I had little helpers assisting me! 😉

I let the ends of the stems stick out from the wreath a bit.

Next, I added the green leaves using the same technique. Again I allowed some of the leaves to stick out especially toward the bottom. I think the imperfection gives the wreath a more whimsical look. 🙂 Follow the same method with your eucalyptus stems.

Once you have all of your stems in place, it’s time to add the pumpkins and apples. I simply snipped my floral wire down to 3 inch sections, dipped each wire in glue and poked the bottoms of the apples and pumpkins. Allow the glue to dry for a few moments before trying to handle the fruit.

Look for holes and gaps where you can see the grapevine wreath, then place your apple or pumpkin making sure the wire goes through the grapevine. Then just locate your wire on the backside of the wreath and twist it around the grapevine so that the fruit stays in place.

After adding all of my pumpkins and apples I decided to add a bit more green filler, and I believe I purchased these particular stems a few years ago at JoAnne Fabrics.

And there you have it! A beautiful, rustic fall wreath! I just love the way it came out!

This wreath was intended for my barn door in my living room, but after trying it there I think it’s a little small in scale. I may end up using it in my kitchen, we’ll see!
