Hey friends!

I took a break from blogging last week as we were on vacation in North Carolina!! It’s always sad having to leave, but there really is no place like home! 🙂

Today I wanted to share my ideas for our entryway and what we have planned for this spring. If you’ve been following along on Instagram, you know that I just recently painted my living room “Halo” by Benjamin Moore.

Yes, I know. I just painted my kitchen with this same color. Can you tell how much I love it? It’s not gray, it’s not beige. It’s “greige” haha! The perfect mix.

Anyway I’m so happy with the new color in our living room, especially on the wall behind our couch. There was something about the gray walls and the dark gray couch that felt much too cool for me, and I was desperate for more warmth.

Here are some cell phone shots of the living room while I painted (ignore the mess), just so you can see the difference between the paint colors. To me, Halo just feels lighter and brighter and softer than the Repose Gray by Sherwin Williams. Don’t get me wrong, I think Repose Gray is still a beautiful color. I just love Halo so much more in this space.

SO now that the living room has a fresh coat of paint, I’m playing around with ideas for the entry. For the longest time, I have always envisioned bead board in that space. It’s so timeless and true the year our home was built, in fact we have bead board in the back entry that is original to the home.

Rather than going 3/4 of the way up the wall, my dream would be to install it floor to ceiling to really pull the eyes up and make the space feel twice as big. I’m not 100% sure about this but I think I’d love to paint it white and add trim around the large opening (added by the previous owner – it used to be a single door) that leads to the living room.

ANYway, that leads me to the entryway wall sconce. The one we have now is beautiful, but it feels just a bit too coastal for me. I love coastal vibes and I my decor was once very beachy/coastal. I used to love decorating with seabirds and lanterns and driftwood since we live right near the lake, but my style is more cottage now than coastal, so I’d love to update the fixture to match that.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing your wall sconce ideas! So many beautiful choices! I really like options 7 and 10 for your space! :o)

  2. Hi Andrea. I know what you mean about needing more warmth in a color. I’ve have painted the walls in my home so many slight variations on ‘greige’ you wouldn’t believe it. I keep trying grey and thinking “nope”, I just can’t live with it. I live in house that does not get much light and I have found my perfect greige to bounce light around is Ballet White (also Benjamin Moore). It’s very, very similar color to halo but a tad beiger and a tad warmer. It probably leans more towards the beige range but also looks grey in some lights. It goes well with any furniture. Just thought I’d share in case you ever wanted to go a bit warmer. 🙂

    1. It was so sweet of you to share this with me!! I appreciate it so much!! I will definitely have to jot that color down and keep it in mind for future projects!! 🙂

  3. Oh I forgot to say, I like option 4 or 8 for that space. Not sure you would get as much light from them though as the one you currently have. I love option 1 for the look and light yo would get but I’d be worried about people bumping into the glass.

    1. Oh my goodness I hadn’t thought of that! Thank you so much for sharing your opinion Jacqueline! 🙂
