Simple Spring Tablescape

Hey friends!

Spring is probably my favorite time of year. There is something so magical about opening your windows early in the morning to hear the birds chirping and see flowers blooming. It sounds cheesy, but I feel so alive and inspired when that snow begins to melt away!

Earlier this week I shared my spring kitchen, and today I’m sharing a simple spring tablescape that was so easy to throw together and so affordable, too! I want to thank Bre over at Rooms for Rent for inviting me to be a part of this Spring Tablescape tour. What a talented group of ladies! I feel so honored to be a part! 🙂

In this season of my life, with three little boys all under the age of 5, tablescapes for me are all about simplicity. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE a beautifully set table with chargers and napkin rings and place holders. But today I’ve created something so much more simple, a balance between the pretty things that I love and what is also practical for my little family.

Rather than a traditional table setting, I stacked everything on one end of our DIY farmhouse table for a take-one-and-pass-it-down sort of feel. I started off by using an oversized dish towel from Target for my “tablecloth”. Something about the plaid pattern reminded me of a picnic, so I laid it on a diagonal and began layering on top of it.

Whenever I create vignettes or tablescapes, I try to incorporate many different textures. I love the combination of woods and white, so I knew this thrifted wooden vase would be so perfect against the blues and whites of the dish towel.

To create more interest using textures, I brought in some copper elements. I love the look of real, antique copper but it can definitely be pricey. I found some fun copper forks that were so affordable as well as a small copper pan that was so perfect for extra blueberries.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know how much I love thrift stores. I already mentioned that the wooden vase was second hand, but can you believe the napkins, plates, and glasses were all thrift store finds as well? Just another reason why I love thrifting! You never know what you’ll find!

The flower pattern on the blue glasses is so perfect for spring, and I love the scalloped detail on the little dessert plates. The best part about thrifting for decor? If anything is broken, at least you haven’t spent tons of money!

As much as I love real flowers, I just don’t have access to them where I live. For this tablescape I decided to use faux stems, but over the years I’ve gotten more picky about what I use. I personally feel like these peonies look so real, and I love the combination of blue and pink for spring!

I recently found out that I have Celiac, so I’ve been testing different vanilla cake recipes and trying various gluten free flours. While this cake was good, I’m still on the hunt for an even better cake recipe, so if you have one please share!
