Today I’m sharing 5 books that have changed me in motherhood. Each of these reads has impacted me in some way, and have helped to shift my perspective as a mama.

Motherhood is one of the most challenging jobs in the world, and reading from those that have gone before us is one of the best things we can do. Of course nothing can compare to God’s Word, but each of these books dives deep into Scripture, providing practical application and examples of ways that we can live out the Gospel in our homes and in front of our children.
I chat about each book in the YouTube video above, and I start off by making a delicious, all natural pumpkin spice latte with you guys! If you enjoy watching more than reading, I hope you’ll take the time to head over to my channel and say hello!
Let’s dive in!
5 Books that have Changed Me in Motherhood – Parenting by Paul Tripp
I read Parenting, by Paul Tripp about four years ago now, and while I can’t remember every detail in the book, I can tell you this – I wept while reading it.
I remember reading the last chapter on Mercy specifically…wiping away tears in the early hours of the morning before my children woke up. The way Mr. Tripp describes our job as parents completely changed my perspective as a mama.

His book took what I thought was a burden (parenting) and showed me that what I was blessed with was a wonderful opportunity to show my children Christ’s love in everyday circumstances. I love love love this book!
5 Books That Have Changed Me in Motherhood – Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson
Mama – did you know that you are on a mission right now? Man, I loved Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson. In the YouTube video you’ll see how many pages I folded from this great read!
If you feel like motherhood is boring or mundane, or you feel as though you have no real purpose – read this book! It will light a fire under you and renew your excitement as mom. What a great responsibility we have as moms – it’s arguably one of the most jobs in the world. I hope every mama has a chance to read this book!
5 Books That Have Changed Me in Motherhood – Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen
Get Out of Your Head by Jennie Allen isn’t about motherhood specifically, but it’s sooo good for moms. If you struggle with toxic thought patterns or negativity, feeling sorry for yourself or struggling to find joy – read this book.

I didn’t think I struggled in any of those areas to be honest, but this book brought some things to light that I didn’t even realize, and it helped to understand that I do not have to be a victim of my circumstances.
5 Books that Have Changed Me in Motherhood – Praying for Your Boys by Brooke McGlothlin
Do you ever wonder how to pray for your children? Do you feel overwhelmed by the world they are growing up in, and anxious about their futures? Praying for Your Boys by Cliff Graham is the book you need. This book is excellent for both girls and boys, in my opinion. I love the fact that she provides specific scripture for you to pray through each and every day.

My vision and purpose was renewed as I read through this book. Prayer is the most powerful weapon we have as moms, and this book is a great reminder of that.
5 Books that Have Changed Me in Motherhood – Awaking Wonder by Sally Clarkson
I love Sally’s books! In Awakening Wonder, her words are such a blessing! Sometimes our lives become so busy that we forget to pause and notice the beauty that is all around us. This book encourages moms to pause and seek out that beauty, speak forward into the lives of their children and take time to wonder.

We are so distracted today, running from one activity to the next and staring at screens in our down time. Seconds turn to minutes, minutes to hours, hours to days. It’s so important to use every moment that we are blessed with here on earth to inspire and motivate our children to reach their full capacity.
