The basket I used is pretty special, it was my grandma’s. When she passed away my Mom took it, and when I told her about my idea for a basket light she pulled this one out right away.
If you love the look of my basket, I would definitely recommend checking thrift stores! I see neat baskets at second hand stores all the time, and they are usually only a couple of bucks!
For this project I purchased a $15 light fixture from Amazon, but sadly it’s no longer available. I loved the modern lines and the way the brass tied in to the other hardware throughout the nursery. I love this fixture just as much, but it’s a bit more pricey.

First, my husband simply removed the existing shade.
He then ran the wire from the fixture through a fender washer, which kept the light in a straight, fixed position.
Please forgive my pregnant brain for not snapping a picture of this step. I’m not sure where my mind was, but in the following photos I have the washer labeled so that you can see what I’m referring to!

Next, he found the center of the basket and pulled the wire through, making sure the washer was left on the inside.

Next, he fished the wire through any remaining lamp hardware.

Finally, my husband wired the basket pendant light to the ceiling.

And that’s it!! How easy was that? I keep wondering where else in my home I can add another basket pendant light, haha! I just love this adorable fixture! It just looks so beautiful when you turn the light on, too. 🙂

Here’s a full shot of the nursery – I love how the brass and wood ties in to all of the textures throughout the space.

What do you guys think? I hope our DIY basket pendant light inspired you!
