Beef and Broccoli Style Venison Stir Fry

Ingredients

  • 1 lb venison backstrap or flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp olive oil divided

Marinade/Sauce

  • ¼ cup coconut aminos or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar or rice vinegar
  • ¼ cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder

Slurry

  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

For Serving

  • Cooked white rice

Instructions

  1. Slice venison very thinly against the grain.

  2. Heat 1 tbsp olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add meat, season with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and cook until browned (about 5–7 minutes).
  4. In a bowl, whisk together all marinade ingredients.
  5. Pour sauce into the skillet with the meat.
  6. Stir in cornstarch slurry and bring to a simmer until thickened.
  7. Add broccoli, cover, and steam for 5–7 minutes until tender.
  8. Serve hot over rice.

Notes

  1. Substitute beef or chicken

  2. Coconut aminos are slightly sweeter than soy sauce, so adjust maple syrup if needed.
