38 Weeks Pregnant: Gender? Nursery Progress? Blogging? An Update!

38 Weeks Pregnant

I am 38 weeks pregnant and today I’m answering so many of your questions about our fourth sweet baby on the way!

Hey sweet friends, as I type this I’m currently 38 weeks and four days pregnant, and since I’ve been getting so many of the same questions over and over, I thought I would do a little Q and A on the blog!

If you watch the YouTube video linked above, I included a little house tour since I recently finished cleaning all the things last week! I’ve been nesting for sure, and our home is ready and all set for baby. 🙂 So let’s dive right in!

Are you having a boy or a girl?

We don’t know what we are having! I know so many of you think that we are crazy for not finding out, especially since we have three boys. I cannot tell you how often I’m asked – “But WHAT will you do if you have a GIRL?!?”

Haha I don’t know why, but I really feel like it’ll be okay. Maybe it’s because I know by now that newborns don’t need much, or maybe deep down I really feel like we will probably have another boy.

Whatever it is, in my heart I’m not worried about it at all. In fact if anything, it makes this whole experience so much more exciting. 🙂

Will this be your last baby?

Mike and I have always talked about having 4. I’m not sure why that is, but after our third I knew I wasn’t done having babies. I think that this will probably be our last, but I’m open to whatever God has planned for us.

Will you continue to blog and create video after having your baby?

Absolutely! I love having this creative outlet, and sharing all of my thrifty decor ideas and DIY projects with you guys is so much fun for me. With that being said, I have no idea what to expect after having this baby. I may take a short break, but I guess it all depends on how delivery and recovery goes.

Ultimately I just want to listen to my body and what it needs, and do what I can when I can and show myself grace if I end up needing some time.

Are you going to update the nursery?

When we had Caleb three years ago, we gave the nursery a complete makeover. There are a few things I would change in there now once I have the time, but overall I still love that space

If we end up having a girl, of course I would love to make it a bit more feminine! But since the baby usually sleeps in our bedroom those first few months, there’s no rush on updating that space in any way.

How are you feeling?

Another phrase I’ve heard often this summer is – “You must be MISERABLE in this heat!”

Man, I guess I’m an odd one. I personally love being pregnant in the summertime! A light dress and flip flops is so much easier to put on than all the layers you need during Michigan winters. Bending over to put socks and boots on seems more miserable than sandals, haha!

38 Weeks Pregnant Update

Overall I feel really good. 🙂 I’m not miserable or dying for this pregnancy to be over. I’m actually trying to cherish every moment and treasure what might end up being my last pregnancy.

If anything, the insomnia has been the hardest. I will wake up at 2 in the morning and really struggle to fall back asleep. In fact last Saturday I woke up at 4:45 and I was so restless that I decided to make zucchini bread lol! Goodness gracious.

Other than that, I really can’t complain. 🙂

Will you continue to homeschool with a newborn baby?

This is a tough one. Never in a million years did I picture myself as a homeschool mom. In fact, I wouldn’t even consider that possibility for a long time. I had preconceived notions about homeschool kids and truth be told, I was even a little bit ignorant towards homeschooling.

The idea of homeschool started as a whisper in my heart, one that I tried to ignore for a very long time. I would tell myself that I went to school and everything worked out fine, why would I ever deviate from what I knew?

I continued to ignore that nudge in my heart, but when everything happened in 2020 I was given this amazing opportunity – an awesome chance to give homeschool a try and see if it was something I would actually be able to do.

God opened doors and led me to ministries that I never knew existed, and my view of education completely shifted. Oh I could say so much about this…but I will try to stop here. Long story short, we are constantly praying and open to whatever God wants for us and for our children. I want to be open and willing no matter where He leads.

As of right now, I feel at peace about homeschooling again. Will it be hard with a newborn? I have no idea. No doubt there will be challenging days, but I have to remember that if God is calling me to do it, He will give me the strength I need.

I’m sure there are more questions that I missed, but I think I answered the ones I get most often. 🙂 If you can think of more, please leave them in the comments below! Will you pray for me as I get closer to this baby’s arrival? I would appreciate it more than you know.

  1. Dear Andrea,
You are very talented and I love your show! I will miss you, but please take this time to be with your family and enjoy the wonderful blessing that God is sending you. It is very important that you rest and take care of yourself. I will be watching all your old videos, hoping it will help you monetarily until you feel strong enough to start your videos again.
Keeping you and your family in my thought and prayers,

  2. Hello from North Carolina! So happy for you and your family on the new addition.
I was wondering what homeschool curriculum you use. I just retired recently so that I could homeschool my 3 year old grandson and also my 10 year old granddaughter while schools were closed. I’m having difficulty finding lesson plans that are already made up. Could you advise me on this?
Also I’ve just started really getting in to your YouTube channel and learning and discovering what my own preferences are. It’s hard to believe that at 62 I’m just now learning what I really like for my home. The main thing that I have learned and the most important thing when it concerns decor style is that I pick things that I feel I will like regardless of whether it stays in style or goes out. I think I just stopped trying for a while because I was always trying to keep up with the new trends. Not only is it exhausting but it’s expensive! So now when a new style comes in if there is something that I think really speaks to me I may purchase it or find it on market place. 🙂. If not… then I let it go. It has really helped take the pressure off.
Again, blessings for your family and the new little one.

  11. Your family is beautiful! I am excited to see the gender as I think in my mind you deserve a little girl after 3 rambunctious boys. Whatever it turns out to be, I am praying for a healthy outcome for all of you. Best wishes!

  12. I recently hosted a baby shower for our neighbor who is 36 weeks and they chose not to know the gender. Her nursery uses the same colors as yours. I love your nursery. In our day we never knew the gender. Our first was done in Raggedy Ann and Andy and for the second it was Kelly green and white. I use the nursery curtains and other items in my laundry room, love all the memories and the oldest will be 50 this month. 😂 please take the time you need to bond as a family and recover physically. I liked the idea of watching your old videos the other commenter mentioned and I will do that too. I’m a reader as opposed to a watcher so I’ve not seen them. God bless you and watch over your delivery and baby.

  13. I love reading each of your posts and watching all of your your videos but this one is just so truly special. It is so awesome that you are waiting to meet your baby and just not putting any of the focus and attention on the nursery and see of the baby. Your openess to accept God’s plan as it is written for and the ease at which you have settled into that is a testament to the love you have for Him and your family. Of course we will keep you and your family in our prayers sweet girl. God bless you all and especially your newest little person to love….whoever he or she may be!!!!
